VISA Guidelines for India

Most foreign nationals need a visa to enter India. This includes tourists, business travelers, students, and those visiting family or friends. The good news is that India offers an e-Visa facility for citizens of more than 160 countries, which allows you to apply online without visiting an embassy. The e-Visa is available for tourism, business, and medical purposes and is usually processed within 3 to 5 working days.

Citizens of Nepal and Bhutan do not need a visa to enter India and can travel freely between the two countries. Citizens of the Maldives can stay in India for up to 90 days without a visa. Nationals from Indonesia, Mauritius, Seychelles, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Thailand are also allowed to enter India without a visa for short stays of up to 30 days under specific agreements.

Visa rules can change, so it is always a good idea to check the latest requirements before you travel. You can visit the official Indian government visa portal or speak to your nearest Indian embassy or consulate for the most up to date information.
