Sunil from Alkof Holidays provided endless support, updated correspondence and with first class service on our trip in India. From the time we booked until our goodbyes at the airport, I could not fault this tour. All the guides, drivers and representatives did an amazing job to accommodate us and our needs. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with an enormous smile. Sunil even organised an additional tour and an additional safari we requested. It was done quickly and efficiently and made our tour amazing. The wildlife we saw was unbelievable!!!!’ We were surprised with every safari, we had the best viewings that well exceeded our expectations. Our transport, accommodation and food was of a high standard.

Kerala Travel FAQs
October to March offers the most comfortable weather for exploring Kerala. These months provide pleasant temperatures ideal for backwater cruises, hill station visits, and beach time. The monsoon season from June to September brings heavy rainfall but creates lush landscapes and is considered ideal for Ayurveda treatments. April and May can be quite warm and humid, though still manageable for travel.
Yes, Kerala is generally safe for foreigners to travel to. The state is a popular destination known for its hospitality, and it offers well-developed tourist infrastructure. Major tourist areas like Kochi, Munnar, and Alleppey are accustomed to hosting International visitors. As with any travel destination, it is advisable to take standard precautions, such as being aware of your surroundings, securing your belongings, and respecting local customs. For a seamless experience, consider booking a guided tour.
Kerala offers a variety of must-see places. Munnar is renowned for its tea plantations and scenic landscapes. Alleppey, known as the "Venice of the East," offers serene backwater cruises on traditional houseboats. Kochi combines rich history with vibrant culture, featuring attractions like the Chinese Fishing Nets and Fort Kochi. Thekkady is famous for the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can enjoy wildlife safaris. Varkala offers stunning cliffs and pristine beaches.
The best beach in Kerala is Varkala Beach. Known for its stunning cliffs, clear waters, and serene atmosphere, Varkala Beach offers a unique blend of natural beauty and tranquility. The beach is also famous for its mineral-rich springs and therapeutic properties. Visitors can enjoy activities like swimming, sunbathing, and exploring nearby attractions such as the ancient Janardhana Swamy Temple.

Kerala offers several luxurious travel experiences. Kumarakom Lake Resort on the banks of Vembanad Lake provides exquisite houseboat stays and luxurious villas. The Leela Kovalam is known for its cliff-top views, world-class spa, and opulent accommodations. Taj Bekal Resort & Spa offers luxurious villas with private pools set amid lush greenery.
A minimum of 7-8 days allows you to experience Kerala's key highlights including the backwaters, hill stations, and beaches. Most packages combine 2-3 destinations like Munnar, Alleppey, and Kochi. For a more comprehensive experience covering wildlife, Ayurveda, and multiple regions, 10-12 days works better. The state's compact size makes it possible to see diverse landscapes without excessive travel time between destinations.
Kerala is renowned for its backwaters with traditional houseboat cruises, especially in Alleppey and Kumarakom. The state is also famous for its tea plantations in Munnar, Ayurvedic treatments and wellness tourism, spice gardens in Thekkady, and unique cultural traditions including Kathakali dance. The Arabian Sea coastline offers distinctive beaches with cliff formations, particularly at Varkala. Kerala's cuisine features coconut-based dishes and fresh seafood preparations.
Most Kerala packages include private transport with driver, which is the most convenient way to travel between destinations. The roads connect major tourist areas well, though hill station routes can be winding. Trains run along the coast connecting cities like Kochi and Trivandrum. For backwater areas, boats and houseboats are part of the experience. Domestic flights connect Kochi and Trivandrum to other Indian cities for longer itineraries.
