India Wildlife Tour Packages
India is home to some of the most extraordinary wildlife on the planet. More than 70 percent of the world's wild tigers live here. The only free-roaming Asiatic lions outside Africa survive in a single forest in Gujarat. The greater one-horned rhinoceros, once nearly extinct, now grazes in the tall grasslands of Assam in numbers that give real hope. Add to this the leopard, the sloth bear, the wild dog, the gaur, the snow leopard, and over a thousand species of birds, and you begin to understand why serious wildlife travellers keep coming back to India.
The India wildlife tour packages on this page are built around these animals and the parks and reserves where they live.
What these wildlife tours cover
India's wildlife is spread across very different landscapes, and each region offers a different kind of safari experience.
Central India is the core of tiger country. Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench, Tadoba, and Satpura are the parks that draw most international wildlife travellers, and for good reason. The forests here are classic sal and teak, the safari zones are well managed, and tiger sighting rates in the right season are among the highest anywhere in the wild. A focused Central India tiger safari runs between 6 and 15 days depending on how many parks you want to cover.
In the west, Gir National Park in Gujarat is the only place in the world where you can see the Asiatic lion in the wild. Ranthambore in Rajasthan is known for tigers that are unusually relaxed around safari vehicles, making it a particularly good park for photography. Both parks work well as part of a longer India circuit.
In the northeast, Kaziranga in Assam is where you go for the one-horned rhinoceros. Elephant-back safaris here give you a ground-level view of the floodplain grasslands that jeep safaris simply cannot. Manas, also in Assam, is wilder and less visited, with golden langur, wild buffalo, and tigers in a landscape that feels genuinely remote.
In the Himalayas, Hemis National Park in Ladakh is one of the few places in the world where a dedicated tracking expedition gives you a real chance of finding the snow leopard in winter. These tours are physical, patient, and unlike any other wildlife experience in India.
How these wildlife tours are structured
Every wildlife tour on this page is private. You travel with your own group, in your own vehicle, on dates that work for you. There are no shared coaches, no fixed departure dates, and no waiting for a group to assemble. The pace of each day is set around the safari schedule of the parks you visit, which is controlled by the forest department, not by us. Morning and evening safaris are the standard format across most Indian reserves, and the days in between are spent at your lodge recovering, reviewing sightings, and preparing for the next drive.
Accommodation on these tours ranges from well-run jungle lodges to more comfortable properties near park gates. Where luxury options exist, such as around Kanha, Bandhavgarh, and Ranthambore, they are genuinely good. Where the park is remote, the accommodation is simpler but always comfortable and appropriate for the location.
Local naturalists accompany you on every safari. These are not general tour guides. They are specialists who know the individual animals in their reserves, can read tracks and behaviour, and will help you understand what you are seeing rather than just pointing at it.
Choosing the right tour
The most common question we receive is which parks to combine in a single trip. The honest answer depends on your travel dates, the time you have, and what you most want to see.
October to March is the best period for most Central India parks, with peak sighting conditions between March and June before the parks close for monsoon. Gir is best visited between Feb and June. Kaziranga is open from November to April. Snow leopard tours in Ladakh run from December to March.
If you have 7 to 10 days, a focused single-park or two-park safari gives you enough time to settle in and increase your chances of meaningful sightings. If you have 12 to 20 days, a multi-park circuit covering two or three regions makes sense and gives you a much wider picture of India's wildlife.
Use the filters on this page to narrow by duration, region, starting city, or accommodation level. If you are unsure which itinerary fits your travel dates and interests, contact our team directly and we will help you work it out before you book anything.

The wildlife sightings exceeded all expectations.
My husband and I have just returned from this amazing private tour with Alkof Ho... My husband and I have just returned from this amazing private tour with Alkof Holidays. Communication before and during the trip was excellent. Having WhatsApp and an eSIM was very helpful, and any questions we had were answered quickly. Internal flights, boarding passes, and transfers were all clearly organized. Our focus was wildlife, but we were also very happy with the accommodation throughout the trip. We stayed at Kavish Gir Lion Resort and Aranyak Resorts near Kanha and Bandhavgarh. The rooms were spacious, the food was excellent, and the staff were always welcoming. Be prepared for some long road journeys and flights, but they are all part of the adventure. We appreciated arriving at the national park gates early each morning, as the cooler hours provided the best wildlife viewing opportunities. The wildlife sightings exceeded all expectations. At Gir National Park, we saw an incredible 26 Asiatic lions, including cubs, along with jackals, mongoose, wild boar, and many beautiful bird species. At Bandhavgarh, we were fortunate to spot six tigers, as well as Indian gaur, owls, hornbills, eagles, and vultures. One of the most memorable moments was watching a magnificent tiger slowly cross the road directly in front of our safari vehicle. Alkof Holidays and India made this trip truly unforgettable. We highly recommend Alkof Holidays to wildlife lovers and would happily travel with them again. A few tips for future travelers: bring binoculars, a good camera, and some extra tissues or toilet paper. We were also advised that mobile phones are not permitted during safaris in India's national parks, which was not an issue for us as keen photographers.

Frequently asked questions about India Wildlife
All safaris on our tours are private and reserved exclusively for your group, except in Bandipur and Kabini where Karnataka government regulations require shared jeep or canter safaris. For exact details, please check the inclusions section of the specific tour you are interested in. If any safari is listed as shared and you would prefer a private arrangement, please let your dedicated tour manager know and we will do our best to accommodate it.
Most safaris on these tours are private jeep safaris. Elephant safaris are included where available, such as in Kaziranga. In Kabini and Bandipur, safaris operate as shared jeep or canter safaris as per Karnataka government regulations.
Yes. You can extend your tour with additional safaris. Safari permits are limited and sell out quickly, so we recommend informing us at least 90 days in advance for additional safaris, particularly for core zone permits.
Yes. All safari permits, private hotel transfers to and from the safari gate, park entrance fees, and wildlife naturalist fees are included in the tour cost. You do not need to pay anything additional for these services. Tipping is not included and is entirely your choice if you wish to acknowledge someone whose service you enjoyed.
We always try to book your hotel as close to the safari gate as possible. How close depends largely on how far in advance you book. When you book early and permits are available across all gates, we secure hotels nearest to your assigned safari gate. When bookings come in late, the choice of safari gate becomes limited, and in some cases the nearest good hotel may be 30 minutes to an hour away from the gate. This situation comes up most often in Kanha National Park, Pench, and Tadoba. It is one of the main reasons we consistently recommend booking your wildlife tour at least 120 days in advance.
We have been operating since 2011 and have been running safari tours in India from the very beginning. Over the years we have become a trusted name among wildlife travellers and peer companies in the India wildlife travel space.
Yes. A wildlife naturalist accompanies you on every safari. These naturalists are forest department licensed guides dedicated to specific parks and reserves, with detailed knowledge of the wildlife and terrain in their area.
We recommend booking at least 120 days in advance, particularly if you want core zone safari permits at popular parks like Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench, and Tadoba.
Yes. As we operate these wildlife safari tours directly, we can customize any itinerary based on your preferred parks, travel dates, group size, accommodation category, and pace of travel.
