Located in the periphery of Leh, on the Leh-Kargil road, is the Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, which was constructed in memory and honour of Guru Nanak. This place of worship is associated with a very important event in the history of the Sikh religion. Harmandir Sahib is not only important as a religious structure but it has historical significance as well. Inside the gurdwara are several memorial items that commemorate rich past of Sikh like events, saints, martyrs and includes commemorative inscriptions of all the Sikh soldiers who died in World War.

Nestled amidst the snow-capped mountains, Basgo Monastery is a strongly built spiritual centre of Ladakh. This splendid monastery is 40 km away from Leh and is nestled on top of the cliffs in Basgo of Leh district, Ladakh. Basgo comprises a dark red base and sky-high temples on the steep trails. The wonders of the edifice boast of Maitreya temples, mural paintings, ancient architecture styles, and exotic surroundings. The three temples, Chamba Lhakhang, Cham Chung, and Chamba Serzang, are painted with the Central Tibetan elements and style.

Known as the oldest monastery in Ladakh, Alchi Monastery is basically a monastic complex situated in Alchi Village in Leh District. The complex has four separate settlements with monuments dating back to different times. Alchi monastery is said to be the oldest and most famous. The artistic and spiritual details of both Buddhism and the Hindu kings of that time in Kashmir are reflected in the wall paintings in the monastery complex. These are some of the oldest surviving paintings in Ladakh.

Likir monastery vividly sits atop a hill at a height of 3700 meters giving panoramic views of the picturesque landscape of the Himalayas. The monastery was established in the 11th century by Lama Duwang Chosje under the rule of King Lha-Chen Gyal-Po and belongs to the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery is the seat of Ngari Rinpoche, the youngest brother of Dalai Lama. ‘Likir’ means ‘The Naga-Encircled’ which represents the bodies of two great serpent spirits- Nanda and Taksako. It is believed that these serpents had guarded the monastery.
