Itinerary
On your arrival at Leh Airport, an Alkof Holidays representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to acclimatize to the altitude and climate in Leh. In the afternoon, visit the Leh Palace, also known as Lachen Palkar Palace, a former royal residence that offers stunning views of the city. Explore the picturesque white-domed Shanti Stupa perched on a hilltop, and later, stroll through the local market where you can shop for authentic Tibetan handicrafts such as prayer wheels, stoles, and Pashmina shawls. Enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, head out to explore the beautiful Sham Valley. This place offers a touching tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in the Indo-Pak wars, built by the Indian Army. Next, visit the Kali Mata Mandir, followed by the historic Spituk Gompa, a stunning 11th-century Buddhist monastery. Continue to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, built in honor of Guru Nanak Dev's visit in 1517. Experience the fascinating Magnetic Hill, where the road seems to defy gravity, and enjoy the scenic drive to the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers. After an inspiring day, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast at the hotel, set off on a mesmerizing drive to Nubra Valley, also known as Ldumra or the Valley of Flowers. Located north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas, this stunning valley sits at an average altitude of 10,000 feet. On the way, cross Khardungla Pass, the highest motorable pass in the world at 18,360 feet. Enjoy breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and majestic mountains, and drive over a bridge built on a glacier, a feat that earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. Upon arrival in Nubra Valley, check in at the camp for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, visit Diskit Monastery before heading towards Pangong TSO Lake via the Shyok route. Prepare to be amazed by Pangong Lake! This stunning lake is a must-see for any visitor to Ladakh. Its crystal-clear waters are surrounded by breathtaking mountains, nestled near the famous Chushul Mountains, making it a popular spot for films. The lake is long and narrow, with salty water that attracts many bird species. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp near Pangong Lake.
After breakfast at the camp, spend the morning exploring the beautiful Pangong Lake and its surroundings. In the afternoon, drive back to Leh. On the way, visit Hemis Gompa, located 45 km from Leh. This monastery was re-established in 1672 by King Sengge Namgyal and hosts the annual Hemis festival in early June to honor Padmasambhava. Upon arrival in Leh, check in at the hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore the local market for some shopping. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Get ready for an adventure! After breakfast, we’ll take a scenic 1.5-hour drive to Likir. From there, embark on a 5-hour hike that mostly follows a road leading up to Phobe La Pass (3580 meters). At the pass, we’ll leave the road for an exciting downhill trek through a gorge, eventually rejoining the road with views of the quaint village of Sumdo. We’ll cross a wooden bridge over a stream and tackle a final climb up Chagatse La Pass (3630 meters) before reaching our campsite in the charming village of Yangthang. Overnight stay at the camp in Yangthang.
The adventure comes to an end, but the memories will last a lifetime! In the morning as per your flight timing, our driver will transfer you to Leh Airport to board a flight to home or onward journey.
