Luxury Private Tours to India
A luxury private tour of India is planned around you from the first conversation. Your travel dates, your interests, the pace you prefer, and the standard of accommodation that matters to you are the starting point for every itinerary we build. No two journeys from this collection are identical, because no two guests travel the same way.
What a Luxury Private Tour to India Actually Means
A luxury private tour of India built by our team does not begin with a template. It begins with understanding how you travel. Some guests want consecutive days of heritage sightseeing. Others want one site a day with unhurried time around it. Some want wildlife at dawn and a slower afternoon. Others want a journey built entirely around cuisine, craft, or spiritual heritage. The structure of your days is a direct result of that first conversation, not a pre-filled document with your name at the top.
The accommodation in a luxury private tour is not simply upgraded. It is chosen. There is a difference between a property that carries a five-star rating and a property that earns it in practice. The hotels and heritage properties on our itineraries are selected for their service standards, their physical character, and what they add to that particular leg of the journey. A property is not included because it was available or because it fills a bed-night between two destinations. Every stay has a reason to be there.
The guide assigned to each part of your journey is a subject specialist. A guide covering a Mughal heritage circuit is not the same person leading a wildlife safari or a temple trail. Each region and each travel theme draws on a different body of knowledge, and the guides on our itineraries are selected on that basis. Your guide is not reading from a script prepared for a general audience. They are answering your questions, adjusting the depth of explanation to your interest, and giving you access to a place in a way that independent travel does not.
Your vehicle and your driver are exclusive to your group throughout. You are not sharing transport with other guests. Departure times are set by you, not by a fixed schedule. If you want to stop somewhere unplanned or spend longer at a site than originally intended, that is a conversation with your driver, not a logistical problem to work around.
The customisation process does not end once your itinerary is confirmed. Dietary requirements, mobility considerations, travel anniversaries, early morning flight connections, and interests that surface after the first draft are all worked into the plan before departure. An itinerary goes through multiple revisions before it is finalised, and those revisions are driven by your feedback, not by what is operationally convenient.
India resists the one-size itinerary. Fifteen years of planning luxury private journeys across it has reinforced one consistent finding. The guests who leave most satisfied are the ones whose trip was genuinely built around them, at a standard that held from the first property to the last day of travel.

I was in India for business, Alkof Holidays was able to arrange a custom itinerary based on where I was, when I was available, and what I was interested in. When I wanted to make an adjustment mid-trip they helped out for no extra charge. I will not hesitate to use them again.

Just like the previous one, this tour was also comfortable, we booked all 4 star properties through them and it was a nice stay there, driver Suresh was fantastic, he was always on time and took special care of us. My daughter, I and my husband enjoyed the tour. Will travel with them again, next time to Ladakh. Thank you.

The wildlife sightings exceeded all expectations.
My husband and I have just returned from this amazing private tour with Alkof Ho... My husband and I have just returned from this amazing private tour with Alkof Holidays. Communication before and during the trip was excellent. Having WhatsApp and an eSIM was very helpful, and any questions we had were answered quickly. Internal flights, boarding passes, and transfers were all clearly organized. Our focus was wildlife, but we were also very happy with the accommodation throughout the trip. We stayed at Kavish Gir Lion Resort and Aranyak Resorts near Kanha and Bandhavgarh. The rooms were spacious, the food was excellent, and the staff were always welcoming. Be prepared for some long road journeys and flights, but they are all part of the adventure. We appreciated arriving at the national park gates early each morning, as the cooler hours provided the best wildlife viewing opportunities. The wildlife sightings exceeded all expectations. At Gir National Park, we saw an incredible 26 Asiatic lions, including cubs, along with jackals, mongoose, wild boar, and many beautiful bird species. At Bandhavgarh, we were fortunate to spot six tigers, as well as Indian gaur, owls, hornbills, eagles, and vultures. One of the most memorable moments was watching a magnificent tiger slowly cross the road directly in front of our safari vehicle. Alkof Holidays and India made this trip truly unforgettable. We highly recommend Alkof Holidays to wildlife lovers and would happily travel with them again. A few tips for future travelers: bring binoculars, a good camera, and some extra tissues or toilet paper. We were also advised that mobile phones are not permitted during safaris in India's national parks, which was not an issue for us as keen photographers.

Frequently asked questions about Luxury India
India does not have a single best season because the country spans multiple climate zones. October to March suits heritage and cultural circuits across the north and the desert regions. South India travels well through the same period and into April. Wildlife reserves follow their own seasonal calendars, with peak sighting windows varying by reserve. We suggest you discuss this with our travel experts who will share in-depth details of every destination you want to visit, so you can schedule your trip at the best time of year.
For most luxury private tours of India, we recommend starting the planning conversation at least six months in advance before your intended travel dates. Properties in high-demand regions and periods, particularly wildlife reserves during peak season and heritage destinations around major festivals, require advance booking. The itinerary itself can take two to three weeks of back-and-forth to finalise properly, so starting early gives you the time to get it right.
Yes, Every itinerary listed here is a starting point, not a fixed product. You can add a region, replace a destination, change the pace of a particular leg, or build the journey around a specific interest such as textile heritage, wildlife, or architectural history. The duration, routing, and accommodation category are all adjustable. For specific hotel preferences such as the Oberoi, Taj Hotels, or the Leela, your dedicated travel manager will confirm availability and inclusions before the itinerary is finalised.
On our luxury private tours, accommodation is five-star category as a standard. In certain regions such as high-altitude destinations, the hospitality infrastructure is limited and we select the finest four-star premium properties available there, which meet the same expectations of service and comfort within that context. For specific property preferences including the Oberoi, Taj Hotels, or the Leela, please confirm availability and inclusions directly with your dedicated tour manager before the itinerary is finalised.
If you have selected a listed itinerary, everything is exactly as described on that tour page. If you are building a customised trip, your dedicated travel manager plans it around your dates, your interests, and the pace that suits you. Either way, your vehicle, your driver, and your guides are exclusively yours throughout. Accommodation is five-star, with four-star premium properties in destinations where that is the highest available standard. Your travel manager stays reachable from your first day to your last.
Your dedicated tour manager is reachable by phone and WhatsApp throughout your trip. Your private driver and local guide are with you on the ground at each destination for immediate support, backed by our Delhi team for quick assistance.
