The construction of the aesthetically planned three terraced grand building was completed in 1990 and after necessary arrangements the museum was opened to the public on August 15, 1998. It has 3485 listed antiquities of which 238 are on display in museum galleries, corridors, back verandahs. And in the front entrance of the museum. The museum has four large galleries with a long terraced corridor displaying various antiquities mainly related to Tantric Buddhism. These are varied in nature and include small votive stupas, sculptures of various mediums and dimensions in stone, bronze, ivory, copper and stone inscriptions, inscribed pottery lions, terracotta seals and seals and others.

Baldev Jewish Temple is located at Ichhapur, Kendrapara, Odisha. Baladevjeva Temple is a very famous temple of Odisha and Balarama is its main deity. Recent excavations have uncovered a wealth of Buddhist relics rich in architectural and sculptural terms. These include groups of rock-cut votive stupas, two unique images of Buddha and the Pancha Dhyani Buddha with his female counterparts, brick cells, and brick walls. The most notable and prize discovery of this place in 2001 are the two engraved images of Emperor Ashoka, one with his singles and the other with his two queens
