Dal Lake

Dal is a lake in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The Jewel of Srinagar, the Dal Lake is synonymous to a visit to Srinagar and is almost a visual definition of the town. Spread over 15 kms, it is the second-largest lake in Jammu & Kashmir. The mirror-like Dal Lake reflects the snow-dusted peaks of the Pir Panjal mountains while the colourful shikaras (gondolas) float around. The houseboats and shikaras are its main attractions.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is the largest tulip garden in Asia which is set in the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range in Srinagar. The main highlight of the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is the enchanting annual festival, which is held in Spring, between the months of March and May.

Built during the 1700s, this fort was constructed by Atta Mohammad Khan, the Afghan governor of the time. However, the building of this fort was initially started by the Mughal emperor, Akbar during the late 1500s. But this fortification was left undone halfway through. The fort is currently used by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). It is currently under the maintenance of the Indian Archaeological Survey of India (IASI).

Also called the abode of fairies or the home of angels, the historical monument sits on top of the Zabarwan range overlooking Srinagar and the Dal Lake. The main attraction is the numerous colourful flowers and exotic fruit plantations. The Palace of Fairies (Pari Mahal) was built by Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It is believed that the mahal was once a Buddhist monastery. Later on, it served as a school of astrology for prince Dara Shikoh. The architecture of Pari Mahal is traditional Islamic type of architecture while the surrounding gardens are exceptionally well maintained.

Dachigam National Park is located 22 kilometers from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, With lush green environs, beautiful flora and some of the rarest fauna, Dachigam National Park, in Jammu and Kashmir is a natural treasure. The national park is India's most elevated forest reserve at an altitude of 1700m to 4300m above sea level and is spread over a sprawling 141 sqkms. Right from the Himalayan grey langur that feeds on the barks of trees to the rare Himalayan brown bear to Pygmy Owlets to the predators, the leopards. You shall not be disappointed one bit because Dachigam is always prepared to show you all of its beauty.

Recently developed beautiful place of Paradise Kashmir is Doodhpathri, located in the Budgam district. The region literally meaning valley of milk is a beautiful resort with carpet-like meadows. It is located about 42 km from Srinagar. The area is rich in the production of milk, hence the name “Doodhpathri”. It is also believed that the cattle who graze in the meadows of this place give a large quantity of milk and that is why it is called DoodhPathri. Doodhpathri is a beautiful meadow with emerald grass that looks like a green carpet. A beautiful river dancing and reverberating with the wind flow in the middle of the meadow, lending it a splendid charm and vibrancy. The place looks very beautiful and pleasant. The green grass under the feet is really wonderful.
