Doddabetta Peak

Whether you are looking for an adventurous trip with friends or a leisure trip with family, Doddabetta Peak makes a perfect vacation spot amidst majestic hills and misty clouds. Doddabetta, the fourth highest peak in South India next to Anamudi, Mannamalai and Meesapulimala, is the highest peak of the Nilgiri Hills, with an elevation of 2,637 m or 8652 ft. Located at a distance of 10 km from Ooty, Doddabetta translates to "Big Mountain", where Dodda means big and Betta means mountain.

Nilgiri Mountain Railway

The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is a meter-gauge railway line 1000 mm long that runs through the Queenly Hill station of Ooty in Tamil Nadu. The fleet of steam locomotives operating on this line is aptly nicknamed 'The Toy Train' and is very popular among children. The train covers a total distance of 46 km in a duration of 5 hours, passing through a view of rolling hills, green meadows and wooded slopes. The terrain oozes green with red-tiled roofs and trains stop at quaint little hill stations from time to time. On this ride you will be waved through Mettupalayam, Keller, Coonoor, Wellington, Lovedale and Ootacamund, reaching a maximum of 4,363 feet.

Pykara Waterfalls

The Pykara Falls are situated amidst the backdrop of lush green forest and are an absolute delight to behold. Paykara is the name of a village situated at a distance of about 19 km from Ooty in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is also the name of a river that passes through the village of Pykara, which is sacred to the original inhabitants of this land. The Pykara River flows down the mountains over several waterfalls, and these are known as the Pykara Falls.

Nilgiri Tea

Nilgiris are present at the southern end of the Western Ghats in the Indian subcontinent. Within an altitude of 1000 m to 2500 m, the Nilgiri Hills are most notably famous for their vast tea plantations. Unlike other major tea growing regions in India, Nilgiri tea gardens are known for producing hot drinks throughout the year. The major tea varieties from these plantations are black tea and oolong, whose aroma and taste are very different from those of the rest of India. This is mainly due to the high altitude of the Nilgiri tea plantations. Popular tea gardens in the region are must-visits on a tour of the Eucalyptus, which include Craigmore, Pascos Woodlands, Nonsuch Dunsondale, Parkside, Glendale, Tiger Hill, Kolakumby, and Corsley.
