Best time to Visit Hanle

Hanle can be visited for a limited part of the year due to its extreme altitude and harsh climate. The best time to visit is from May to September when the weather is relatively stable and roads are accessible.

Summer (May to September)

This is the best time to visit Hanle, with temperatures ranging between 5°C and 20°C during the day, though nights can be cold. Roads are open, and conditions are suitable for travel. It is ideal for visiting the Indian Astronomical Observatory, enjoying clear night skies, and experiencing the remote Himalayan landscape.

Winter (October to February)

Winters are extremely harsh, with temperatures ranging between -25°C and -5°C. Heavy snowfall and extreme cold make travel very difficult, and most tourist facilities remain closed. The region becomes largely inaccessible for regular visitors.

Early Season (March to April)

This is a transitional period, with temperatures ranging between -10°C and 10°C. Snow begins to melt, but road conditions can still be unpredictable. Travel is possible with proper planning, though facilities are limited and weather conditions remain cold.
