Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary

Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary was once a hunting ground for the Maharaja of Bikaner. It is located about 32 kilometers and is one of the popular wildlife sanctuaries in Rajasthan. There is a small lake inside the sanctuary which is visited by wild animals to quench their thirst during summers, and it also offers pleasing views of the palace located across it. A number of animals can be spotted during a wildlife safari in Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary including Deer, Antelope, Nilgai, Chinkara, Black Buck & Desert Foxes. Flocks of Imperial Sand Grouse & a variety of migratory birds can also be spotted here.

The Gajner Palace in Bikaner is a jewel in the Thar Desert. It was built by His Highness Maharaja Sir Ganga Singh of Bikaner on the shores of a lake. The majestic palace is spread over 6000 acres. The charm of the palace is its, fabulous setting and unhurried way of life. One can explore a world of pleasant nature-walks, boat rides on the lake, sanctuary dinners and desert safaris. Bikaner’s Gajner Palace has now been transformed into a stunning heritage hotel. It is currently owned by HRH Group of Hotels. The property was converted into a heritage hotel in 1976. Gajner Palace is divided into four wings, Dungar Niwas, Mandir Chowk, Gulab Niwas and Champa Niwas.

Gajner Lake is a part of the Gajner Palace, which is located a few kilometres away from the main city of Bikaner, in the Indian state Rajasthan. It is an artificial lake built beside the Gajner Palace, hence the name Gajner Lake. Gajner Lake is considered the most beautiful place in Bikaner during winters as the lake is covered with more than hundreds and thousands of bird species for migration. This lake is surrounded by dense forest during the winter season and is located between the mountains, therefore, this Palace and the lake are considered the perfect vacation spot.
