Best time to Visit Malshej Ghat

Monsoon (June to September)

The monsoon is unquestionably the best and most popular time to visit Malshej Ghat. This is when the ghat is at its most spectacular, with waterfalls tumbling down the cliff faces, the entire landscape wrapped in mist and cloud, and the flamingos gathering at the plateau lakes. The green intensity of the Sahyadri hills during the monsoon is extraordinary and the drive through the ghat on a rainy day is one of the most memorable road experiences in Maharashtra. Most visitors from Mumbai and Pune make the trip specifically during the monsoon months of July and August.

Winter (October to February)

Winter is a pleasant time to visit Malshej Ghat. The monsoon has cleared and the landscape is still green from the rains. The waterfalls have reduced significantly but the weather is cool and comfortable for trekking to Harishchandragad Fort and exploring the surrounding hills. The flamingos may still be present in the early post-monsoon months. This is a quieter time with fewer crowds than the peak monsoon season.

Summer (March to May)

Summers in Malshej Ghat are dry and warm. The landscape becomes brown and the waterfalls disappear completely. The fort trek is still possible during the cooler morning hours but the dramatic beauty of the ghat is largely absent during this season.
