On this 12 day Leh Ladakh Motorcycle Tour, experience the Indian Himalayas on a Royal Enfield under the guidance of an Expert Rider. Starting in Delhi and ending in Leh. Travel from New Delhi to Manali via Chandigarh in an air conditioned comfortable vehicle. In Manali, you will receive your Royal Enfield motorcycle, meet your motorcycle tour leader and complete a supervised test ride before starting the ride to Ladakh.
The journey takes you through Jispa and Sarchu to Leh, crossing high mountain passes and spectacular Himalayan landscapes. After a rest day in Leh, ride to Nubra Valley and continue through the Shyok Valley to Pangong Lake before returning to Leh.
The tour includes accommodation, private transfers before the motorcycle journey, Royal Enfield motorcycle with fuel, an experienced motorcycle tour leader and supervisor, required permits, and sightseeing as mentioned in the itinerary.

Day by Day
Itinerary
On arrival at the New Delhi airport, Alkof Holidays representative will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the city's bustling streets or wander its wide tree-lined boulevards to get your first taste of India. Overnight stay in New Delhi.
After breakfast at the hotel, leave Delhi for Chandigarh by private air-conditioned vehicle. Travel north through the plains of Haryana and Punjab and arrive in Chandigarh in the afternoon. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel. Later, visit the Rock Garden and Sukhna Lake. Return to the hotel after sightseeing. Overnight stay at the hotel in Chandigarh.
Altitude Manali: Approx. 2,050 metres
After breakfast, leave Chandigarh and drive to Manali by private vehicle. The journey gradually enters the Himalayan foothills and continues through the mountain roads of Himachal Pradesh. Pass through Bilaspur and Mandi and continue along the Beas River towards Kullu and Manali.
Upon arrival in Manali, check in at your hotel and rest. Overnight stay at the hotel in Manali.
Manali Altitude: Approx. 2,050 metres
After breakfast, meet your motorcycle tour leader and supervisor, who will accompany the motorcycle group during the riding part of the tour.
Your Royal Enfield motorcycle will be handed over to you in Manali. The team will explain the motorcycle controls, luggage arrangements, riding formation, communication signals, road conditions, refuelling arrangements and basic safety procedures for riding in the Himalayas.
Your motorcycle and riding position will be checked before departure. After the briefing, take a supervised test ride around Manali. This ride gives you time to become comfortable with the motorcycle before starting the long-distance journey.
Return to the hotel after the ride. Your motorcycle tour leader will brief the group about the next day's route to Jispa. Overnight stay at the hotel in Manali.
Altitude: Jispa: Approx. 3,200 metres
After breakfast, start your first long-distance motorcycle ride from Manali to Jispa with your motorcycle tour leader.
Ride from Manali towards Solang Valley and continue through the Atal Tunnel to enter Lahaul Valley. After crossing the tunnel, continue through the mountain landscapes of the Lahaul region towards Tandi and Keylong.
Continue riding from Keylong to Jispa, a small Himalayan settlement beside the Bhaga River. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel or camp and park the motorcycles for the night. The rest of the evening is kept free for rest. Overnight stay in Jispa.
Jispa Altitude: Approx. 3,200 metres
Sarchu Altitude: Approx. 4,290 metres
After breakfast, start your motorcycle ride from Jispa to Sarchu with your motorcycle tour leader and supervisor.
Ride through the mountain roads of Lahaul and continue towards Darcha. From Darcha, the road climbs higher towards Patseo and Zingzing Bar before reaching Baralacha La, situated at approximately 4,850 metres above sea level.
After crossing Baralacha La, continue through the high-altitude Himalayan landscape towards Bharatpur and descend towards Sarchu.
Arrive at Sarchu and check in at your camp. Park the motorcycles and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Sarchu is situated at approximately 4,290 metres above sea level, so no additional riding or sightseeing is planned after arrival. Overnight stay at the camp in Sarchu.
Sarchu Altitude: Approx. 4,290 metres
Leh Altitude: Approx. 3,500 metres
After an early breakfast, start your motorcycle ride from Sarchu to Leh with your motorcycle tour leader and supervisor.
Leave Sarchu and ride towards the Gata Loops, a series of mountain bends that take the road higher into the Himalayas. Continue across Nakee La and Lachulung La before descending towards Pang.
From Pang, continue across the wide and open More Plains. The route then climbs towards Tanglang La, one of the major high-altitude mountain passes on the Manali to Leh road.
After crossing Tanglang La, descend towards Rumtse and continue through the Indus Valley. Ride through Upshi and follow the road along the Indus River towards Leh. Arrive in Leh in the evening, check in at your hotel and park the motorcycles. Overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.
Leh Altitude: Approx. 3,500 metres
After breakfast, spend the day in Leh for rest and acclimatization after the long ride from Jispa.
There will be no long-distance motorcycle ride today. In the afternoon, visit Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa and Leh Market. Return to the hotel after sightseeing.
Your motorcycle tour leader will check the motorcycles and brief the group about the next day ride to Nubra Valley. Overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.
Khardung La Altitude: Above 5,300 metres
Nubra Valley Altitude: Approx. 3,000 metres
After breakfast, start your motorcycle ride from Leh to Nubra Valley with your motorcycle tour leader.
Ride uphill from Leh towards Khardung La. Stop briefly at the pass before continuing down towards the Nubra Valley.
Continue through Khardung village and the Shyok Valley towards Diskit. Visit Diskit Monastery and the large Maitreya Buddha statue overlooking the valley.
Later, ride to Hunder and visit the sand dunes. Here, enjoy the included ride on a double-humped Bactrian camel.
After the visit, ride to your hotel or camp in Nubra Valley and park the motorcycles for the night. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
Pangong Lake Altitude: Approx. 4,350 metres
After breakfast, leave Nubra Valley and start your motorcycle ride to Pangong Lake.
Instead of returning to Leh, take the direct route through the Shyok Valley. Ride along the Shyok River through the remote mountain landscape and continue towards Durbuk and Tangtse.
From Tangtse, continue towards Pangong Lake. Arrive at Pangong Lake in the afternoon and check in at your camp or accommodation.
After parking the motorcycles, spend time beside Pangong Lake and explore the lakeside area. Pangong is a high-altitude lake situated at approximately 4,350 metres above sea level.
Overnight stay near Pangong Lake.
After breakfast, start the final long motorcycle ride of the tour from Pangong Lake to Leh.
Ride back through Tangtse and continue towards Chang La. Cross the high mountain pass and descend towards the Indus Valley.
On the way to Leh, visit Thiksey Monastery, one of the important Buddhist monasteries of Ladakh. After the visit, continue riding towards Leh.
Upon arrival in Leh, return to the hotel and hand over your motorcycle to the Alkof Holidays motorcycle team. Your motorcycle expedition ends in Leh.
Check in at the hotel and spend the evening at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.
After breakfast at the hotel, an Alkof Holidays representative will transfer you to Leh Airport for your onward flight to Delhi or to your next destination. Your Leh Ladakh Motorcycle Tour ends here.

Important Information
Know Before You Go
- Riding Experience: This is a high-altitude motorcycle tour with long riding days, mountain passes, sharp bends and changing road conditions. Riders should have previous motorcycle riding experience and be comfortable riding for several hours a day.
- Driving Licence: Every rider must carry a valid motorcycle driving licence issued in their home country. International travelers should also carry a valid International Driving Permit where required, along with their original driving licence.
- Passport and Visa: International travelers must carry a valid passport and the appropriate Indian visa. Keep your original passport and required travel documents with you during the tour.
- Motorcycle Handover: Your motorcycle will be handed over in Manali. Before starting the main journey, the tour team will explain the motorcycle, riding formation, basic safety rules and the route. A supervised test ride will also be arranged in Manali.
- Motorcycle Tour Leader: A motorcycle tour leader/supervisor will accompany the group during the riding section of the tour, from Manali until the motorcycle journey ends in Leh.
- High Altitude: This tour travels through several high-altitude areas. Leh is around 3,500 metres, Sarchu around 4,290 metres and Pangong Lake around 4,350 metres above sea level. Some mountain passes on the route are above 5,000 metres.
- Acclimatization: The itinerary is planned with gradual travel into the Himalayas and includes a rest day in Leh. Travelers should drink enough water, avoid excessive alcohol and inform the tour leader immediately if they feel unwell at high altitude.
- Jispa and Sarchu Stay: Jispa and Sarchu are remote high-altitude locations. Accommodation here will be provided in camp and facilities are simpler than hotels in major towns. Nights can be very cold even during the normal travel season.
- Road Conditions: Road conditions in the Himalayas can change quickly. Riders may experience paved roads, rough sections, loose gravel, water crossings, construction areas and temporary road closures.
- Weather: Himalayan weather can change without much warning. Riders should be prepared for sunshine, rain, strong winds and cold temperatures during the same journey.
- Riding Time: All distances and riding times mentioned in the itinerary are approximate. Actual travel time depends on road conditions, weather, traffic, photography stops and local restrictions.
- Riding Gear: Riders should carry suitable motorcycle riding gear, including a certified helmet, riding jacket, riding trousers, gloves, ankle-covering riding boots and rain protection.
- Warm Clothing: Carry thermal wear, warm layers, a windproof jacket, warm socks and other suitable cold-weather clothing. Temperatures can fall considerably at Sarchu, Pangong Lake and the high mountain passes.
- Luggage: Carry only the luggage required for the motorcycle journey. Large suitcases are not suitable for carrying on motorcycles. Follow the luggage instructions provided by the tour team before departure.
- Fuel: Fuel for the motorcycle is included as mentioned in the tour inclusions. Fuel availability is limited on some remote sections, and refuelling will be managed according to the planned route.
- Mobile Network and Internet: Mobile phone and internet services can be limited or unavailable in remote parts of Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. Do not expect continuous mobile or internet connectivity throughout the motorcycle journey.
- Cash: Carry sufficient Indian Rupees for personal expenses in remote areas. ATMs and card payment facilities may not always be available outside the main towns.
- Meals and Drinking Water: Food choices can be limited at remote locations. Travelers should drink safe drinking water regularly, particularly while travelling at high altitude.
- Travel Insurance: International travelers should have comprehensive travel insurance that covers motorcycle touring, high-altitude travel, medical treatment and emergency evacuation. Check the altitude and motorcycle-related conditions of your insurance policy before travelling.
- Medical Conditions: Travelers with any existing medical condition should consult their doctor before booking a high-altitude motorcycle tour and carry sufficient prescribed medication for the entire journey.
- Permits: Permits required for the planned route will be arranged according to the tour inclusions. Travelers must provide the required passport, visa and other details within the requested time.
- Route Changes: Mountain roads can be affected by weather, landslides, road maintenance, local restrictions or other conditions beyond our control. When necessary, the route, sightseeing or overnight location may be changed for safety or operational reasons.
- Responsible Travel: Do not leave plastic bottles, food wrappers or other waste on the road, at mountain passes or near lakes. Follow local rules and respect monasteries, villages, wildlife and the fragile Himalayan environment.
- Follow the Tour Leader: Riders must follow the instructions of the motorcycle tour leader, particularly regarding riding formation, speed, stopping points, road conditions and safety. The tour leader may change the riding plan when required due to weather, road or safety conditions.
- Only Postpaid SIM cards from BSNL, Airtel, and Jio work in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Prepaid SIM cards from other parts of India do not function in this region. You may purchase a local SIM card in Srinagar or Ladakh.
- Electricity in regions such as Nubra, Pangong, Sarchu, Jispa, Keylong, and Tsomoriri is limited to generator power, typically available between 7 PM and 11 PM for charging devices like mobile phones, cameras, and power banks. Hot water may also be accessible only during specific time slots in the morning and evening due to infrastructure limitations in Ladakh.
- Vegetarian meals are exclusively provided at Nubra, Pangong, Sarchu, Jispa, Keylong, and Tsomoriri.
- For easy communication on the go, consider downloading WhatsApp, as it is widely used in India.
- Tipping in India is not compulsory, it is optional but appreciated. A small gratuity is expected in some cases; tip generously for exceptional service. The amount can range from $2, $5, $10 per day, or more, depending on satisfaction and the quality of service received.
- Any costs arising from natural calamities such as road blockages, political disturbances (e.g., strikes), etc., are to be borne by the client. We will not be held liable for any refunds or compensation claims resulting from these circumstances.
- India VISA: Citizens of Nepal and Bhutan do not need a visa to enter India. However, all other foreign nationals must obtain a visa to enter India. For more information, please check https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html.
- Travelers with passports issued by, or showing a birthplace in, the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Pakistan, or Afghanistan are not permitted to travel beyond Leh in Ladakh. Foreign nationals holding diplomatic, official, or United Nations passports must obtain their permits through the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.

A deposit of 10% is required to confirm this tour, and the remaining balance will be charged 60 days prior tour starting date. For any bookings within 60 days of departure, the full tour amount will be charged upon booking. This can be paid through bank transfer, credit or debit card.
