Itinerary
Prepare yourself for an exhilarating experience as you arrive in Ladakh, where the winter chill greets you at an elevation of 11,500 feet. Upon landing at Leh, a representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to acclimate to the high altitude and adapt to the crisp, cold air of Ladakh. Enjoy a restful overnight stay at the hotel.
After a relaxed breakfast, begin your winter exploration of Leh with a short drive to Spituk Monastery, one of the few monasteries easily accessible even in peak winter. Perched above the Indus River, it offers peaceful surroundings and beautiful snow-covered views. Later, visit the Shanti Stupa, ideally in the late morning when temperatures are slightly warmer, to enjoy panoramic views of Leh town and the frozen valley below. The afternoon is kept free for rest, café hopping, or a gentle walk around the Leh market, allowing proper acclimatization in sub-zero conditions. Overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.
After breakfast, set out on a scenic winter drive towards Chilling village, the gateway to the Zanskar region. During winter, instead of the full Chadar Trek, you will experience a guided short walk on safe frozen sections of the Zanskar River, strictly subject to ice and weather conditions, ensuring safety and comfort. This gives a true taste of the legendary Chadar experience without physical strain. Later, continue to Alchi Monastery, Ladakh’s oldest surviving monastery, known for its exquisite murals and unique Kashmiri-influenced art. Return to Leh before sunset, as winter daylight is limited. Overnight stay in Leh.
Begin the day early to attend the morning prayers at Thiksey Monastery, a magical winter experience as monks chant amidst snow-covered surroundings. The cold morning air and golden sunlight make this visit especially memorable. Afterward, return to Leh for a warm breakfast. The rest of the day is kept flexible for local winter activities, such as visiting a Ladakhi home for butter tea, exploring Leh Palace (if open), or simply enjoying the serene winter atmosphere at your own pace. This relaxed schedule helps conserve energy during extreme cold. Overnight stay in Leh.
As your incredible journey comes to an end, make your way to Leh Airport in good time for your onward travel. Bid farewell to the stunning landscapes and unique experiences of Ladakh, taking with you cherished memories of your adventure.
