This 2-day Alleppey houseboat tour takes you through the backwater network of Alappuzha district in Kerala, where a system of canals, lagoons, and lakes connects fishing villages, paddy fields, and coconut groves that sit below sea level in the Kuttanad region. You board a traditional kettuvallam, a converted rice barge fitted with bedrooms, a kitchen, and an open deck, and spend the night anchored on Vembanad Lake, the longest lake in India. The pace is slow by design. Village life unfolds on the banks, local fishermen work the canals at dusk, and kingfishers, egrets, and cormorants are a constant presence along the waterways.

Around 09:30 AM, your driver will transfer you from Kochi to Alappuzha, a town built across a grid of British-era canals that connect to the wider backwater network of Kuttanad. Around 12:00 PM, you board your kettuvallam, a traditional rice barge fitted with bedrooms, a kitchen, and an open deck. Lunch is served onboard as the houseboat moves through the canal system, passing paddy fields that sit below sea level, village homes built at the water's edge, small temples, coir workshops, and local fishing activity. As evening arrives the houseboat anchors on the open water. Dinner and overnight stay onboard.
After breakfast onboard, the houseboat returns to the jetty and your driver will transfer you back to your hotel in Kochi. Checkout from the houseboat is typically by 09:00 AM.
