Itinerary
Your journey to the Sundarbans begins with a pickup from your hotel in Kolkata, followed by a scenic drive to Godkhali, the last road-accessible point before waterways take over. The 3.5-hour journey includes a washroom break, ensuring a comfortable ride. Guests opting for pickup from Science City will start at 9:00 AM. Upon arrival at Godkhali by noon, we determine the best route for the day—either crossing Gosaba Island by auto-rickshaw or taking a direct engine boat to the resort. Both options provide a chance to experience local life and stunning landscapes before reaching your destination.
Once at the resort, take time to settle in before embarking on a guided village walk through lush paddy fields. Meet honey collectors and fishermen, observe local customs, and experience the warmth of village hospitality. Later, enjoy a scenic country boat ride designed for birdwatching, where you may spot kingfishers, Brahminy eagles, egrets, herons, and cormorants while exploring the fascinating mangrove ecosystem. Marvel at the breathtaking sunset over the river before returning to the resort for a peaceful evening.
As night falls, immerse yourself in traditional folk music, where local musicians introduce you to age-old instruments and melodies. Dinner and overnight stay at the resort.
Your Sundarbans adventure begins early in the morning as we set out at 6:30 AM aboard one of our personalized engine boats—Elmar, Para Siempre, Clandestino, or Mangrove Mataal. After securing the necessary forest permits from the office near the village, we embark on an immersive journey into one of the world’s largest mangrove forests, rich in unique flora and diverse wildlife. The boat cruise continues throughout the day, taking you through serene waterways and allowing you to experience the untamed beauty of the Sundarbans. Along the way, we will stop at three iconic watchtowers—Sajnekhali, Sudhanyakhali, and Dobanki—offering panoramic views and opportunities to spot elusive wildlife.
As we navigate narrow creeks and winding channels, keep an eye out for the region’s incredible inhabitants, including spotted deer, wild boars, civet cats, monitor lizards, crocodiles, dolphins, and—if luck favors us—the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger. The thrill of spotting these creatures in their natural habitat makes for an unforgettable experience. After an afternoon break, we return to the camp by 5:00 PM, where a tranquil evening awaits.
At night, immerse yourself in the rhythms of Sundarbans culture with a traditional folk music session or the captivating Bonobibi Pala—a dramatic sound-and-light performance narrating the mythical battle between the jungle goddess Bonobibi and the tiger incarnation Dakhin Rai. You may also indulge in night photography, capturing the star-lit sky, which transforms the landscape into a mesmerizing canvas of celestial beauty. After a fulfilling dinner, unwind and rejuvenate for the next morning’s village walk, concluding an incredible day spent exploring the wonders of the Sundarbans.
As the final morning in the Sundarbans unfolds, guests can take a leisurely walk through the village, capturing stunning sunrise views, exploring the mangroves, or opting for a cycle ride to experience the island’s beauty at their own pace. Early risers may visit the serene lily pond, where thousands of blossoms create a breathtaking spectacle. While the day is slower-paced, it offers a rare chance to wake up surrounded by nature’s tranquility—an experience that truly enhances the journey. For those interested, a visit to the Tagore and Hamilton bungalow on Gosaba Island can be arranged upon discussion during the tour.
Following a morning of relaxation, guests enjoy breakfast before departing for Kolkata at 9:00 AM, carrying cherished memories of their Sundarbans adventure. Upon reaching Godkhali at noon, they board the vehicle for the final leg of the journey. The trip concludes upon arrival at the Kolkata ferry point, where a local driver will meet them and transfer them to their hotel, ensuring a smooth and comfortable return from this remarkable wilderness escape.

- The jungle route is determined by the Sundarbans Tiger Reserve, and our designated path may change based on their decisions during tiger conservation periods, census activities, or other ecological measures. Since 2023, every Tuesday, the Dobanki and Sajnekhali watchtowers remain closed, so on those days, we will follow the Jhorkhali route instead.
- To secure your permit, we require a clear photo of the traveler's passport, as mandated by the forest department.
- For easy communication on the go, consider downloading WhatsApp, as it is widely used in India.
- Transportation is provided according to the itinerary only and is not available on a disposal or point-to-point basis.
- Any costs arising from natural calamities such as landslides, road blockages, political disturbances (e.g., strikes), etc., are to be borne by the client. We will not be held liable for any refunds or compensation claims resulting from these circumstances.

A deposit of 20% is required to confirm this tour, and the remaining balance will be charged 60 days prior tour starting date. For any bookings within 60 days of departure, the full tour amount will be charged upon booking. This can be paid through bank transfer, credit/debit card, or cash.
