Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Kolkata airport, you will be warmly greeted by an Alkof Holidays representative, who will assist with your transfer to the hotel. After check-in, the rest of the day is yours to relax or explore the city at your own pace. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel, preparing for the adventures ahead.
After breakfast at your hotel, begin a scenic 3-hour drive to Godkhali Ferry Ghat, passing through rural bazaars, local tea shops, and traditional fishing villages that offer a glimpse into everyday life. On arrival, meet your naturalist and board a ferry for a two-hour cruise through the mangrove-lined rivers of Hogol, Gomor, Durgaduani, and Gumdi as you enter the Sundarbans National Park. You may also stop at Gosaba to visit the historic residence of Sir Daniel Hamilton. Continue to Jharkhali Island, check in to your resort. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in Sundarban.
After breakfast at the resort, prepare for an unforgettable forest boat safari, one of the most adventurous and unique wildlife experiences in India. Cruise through the winding rivers of Hogol, Gomor, Durgaduani, Bidya, and Gumdi, where you'll be surrounded by towering mangrove trees, and have the chance to spot sun-basking crocodiles, vibrant kingfishers, and, if you're lucky, the majestic Bengal Tiger. The safari will take you to the remote Netidhopani Watchtower, offering breathtaking views and a chance to spot tigers swimming in the river, along with remnants of ancient excavations.
In the evening, return to your resort for a unique cultural experience. Enjoy the local Bonobibi Yatra, a rural theater performance by the villagers, showcasing the fascinating folklore of the forest gods and goddesses, Tiger Lord, fishermen, and honey collectors, all told through lively dances and songs. Wrap up the day with an overnight stay at the resort, immersed in the captivating atmosphere of the Sundarbans.
After breakfast at the resort, take a guided walk through a local village, where you'll have the opportunity to interact with the villagers and learn about their daily lives. Later, enjoy a peaceful boat cruise to the DoBanki Watchtower, where you can take a short canopy walk and appreciate the stunning views of the mangrove forests. In the afternoon, board the ferry back to Godkhali. Upon arrival at Godkhali Ferry Ghat, you will be met by our representative and transferred back to your hotel in Kolkata for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour of Kolkata, formerly Calcutta, which was established as a trading post by the East India Company and served as India's national capital under British rule from 1772 to 1911. Today, it is renowned for its impressive colonial architecture, vibrant art galleries, and lively cultural festivals.
