Leh Ladakh Tour with Turtuk and Nubra Valley Expedition

On your arrival at Leh Airport, an Alkof Holidays representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to acclimatize to the altitude and climate in Leh. If time permits, visit the Leh Palace, also known as Lachen Palkar Palace, a former royal residence that offers stunning views of the city. Explore the picturesque white-domed Shanti Stupa perched on a hilltop, and later, stroll through the local market where you can shop for authentic Tibetan handicrafts such as prayer wheels, stoles, and Pashmina shawls. Enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, head out to explore the beautiful Sham Valley. This place offers a touching tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in the Indo-Pak wars, built by the Indian Army. Next, visit the Kali Mata Mandir, followed by the historic Spituk Gompa, a stunning 11th-century Buddhist monastery. Continue to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, built in honor of Guru Nanak Dev's visit in 1517. Experience the fascinating Magnetic Hill, where the road seems to defy gravity, and enjoy the scenic drive to the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers. After breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley, also known as Ldumra or the Valley of Flowers. Located north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges, this high-altitude valley sits at around 10,000 feet. En route, cross Khardung La, one of the world’s highest motorable passes at 18,300 feet, and enjoy spectacular views of snow-capped peaks. Upon arrival, check in at your camp for an overnight stay in Nubra Valley.

After breakfast, set out on a picturesque drive to the enchanting Turtuk border village, situated at the confluence of the Himalayan and Karakoram ranges, overlooking the serene Shyok river. This historic village, home to the Balti tribe, is celebrated for its unique culture, traditions, and mouthwatering cuisine. Once under Pakistani control until India reclaimed it in 1971, Turtuk tells a poignant story of divided families, with many relatives residing across the border, visible from the village heights. A paradise for photographers, Turtuk offers stunning views, a glimpse into the vibrant local lifestyle, and delights such as its famed apricots and the captivating sword dance performed on special occasions. After an unforgettable day immersed in this culturally rich and scenic destination, return to Nubra for an overnight stay at the camp.

After breakfast, visit Panamik Hot Springs, known for its natural sulphur springs and scenic surroundings. Continue exploring the Sumoor area and nearby villages, offering views of the Nubra landscape and local life. Later, return to Nubra Valley for a relaxed evening. Overnight stay in Nubra.

Start early with a packed breakfast and drive to Pangong Lake, one of the highest saltwater lakes in the world. Enjoy the scenic journey through high altitude landscapes before reaching the lake. Upon arrival, check in at your camp and relax. Later, spend time exploring the lake and its surroundings, known for changing colors and stunning mountain views. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp near Pangong Lake.

After breakfast at the camp, spend the morning exploring the beautiful Pangong Lake and its surroundings. In the afternoon, drive back to Leh. On the way, visit Hemis Gompa, located 45 km from Leh. This monastery was re-established in 1672 by King Sengge Namgyal and hosts the annual Hemis festival in early June to honor Padmasambhava. Upon arrival in Leh, check in at the hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore the local market for some shopping. Overnight stay at the hotel.
