Upon arrival at Leh Airport, you will receive a warm welcome before being transferred to your hotel. The day is dedicated to rest and acclimatization, allowing your body to gradually adjust to the high altitude for a comfortable start to your journey. In the evening, you may opt for a leisurely walk to the serene Shanti Stupa, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Leh, or explore the vibrant Leh Market, where local crafts and cultural experiences await. After a tranquil introduction to the Himalayan landscape, enjoy a restful overnight stay at your hotel in Leh.

Embark on a picturesque drive to Kargil along the stunning Srinagar–Leh Highway, a route that unfolds breathtaking landscapes and cultural landmarks. En route, witness the fascinating Magnetic Hill, where optical illusions make vehicles appear to defy gravity. Stop by the revered Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a sacred Sikh shrine with historical significance. Continue to Sangam Point, where the emerald waters of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers merge in a mesmerizing confluence. As you journey further, explore the mystical Lamayuru Monastery, set amidst the surreal lunar-like terrain known as "Moonland." By evening, arrive in Kargil and settle into your accommodation for a restful overnight stay.

Begin the day with a visit to the Kargil War Memorial, a solemn tribute to the brave soldiers who fought in the 1999 Kargil War. Located in Dras, this memorial stands as a symbol of valor and sacrifice, featuring the Vijaypath (Victory Flame), the Wall of Remembrance, and a war gallery displaying significant artifacts from the battle. The visit offers a poignant moment to honor the courage of India's armed forces.

If desired, make an optional morning stop at Mulbekh Buddha Rock, an ancient carving of Maitreya Buddha standing majestically against the rugged terrain. Later, embark on your return journey to Leh, with captivating stops along the way. Visit the serene Alchi Monastery, known for its exquisite Indo-Tibetan murals and peaceful ambiance, if you choose to include it. Continue to the historic Basgo Castle ruins, where remnants of the once-glorious fortress whisper tales of Ladakh’s rich past. Upon arrival in Leh, enjoy a relaxed evening at leisure, allowing time for personal exploration or quiet reflection. Conclude the day with a comfortable overnight stay in Leh.

Embark on a breathtaking journey from Leh to Nubra Valley, traversing the iconic Khardung La Pass—one of the highest motorable roads in the world. As you ascend, marvel at the panoramic views of the rugged Himalayan landscape, feeling the thrill of crossing this legendary high-altitude pass. Upon arrival in Nubra Valley, immerse yourself in its serene beauty and unique desert-like terrain. Visit the Diskit Monastery, the largest and oldest monastery in the region, renowned for its towering Maitreya Buddha statue and captivating views of the valley. Later, experience the ethereal charm of the Hunder Sand Dunes, where you may choose to enjoy an optional double-humped Bactrian camel ride, a rare experience found in few places on earth. As the day winds down, settle into your accommodation in Hunder or Diskit, embracing the tranquility of the Nubra Valley for an overnight stay.

Spend the day exploring the hidden gems of Nubra Valley, choosing between two captivating experiences.

Option 1: Journey to Turtuk, the last Indian village before the Pakistan border, offering a unique cultural insight into Balti heritage. Wander through its picturesque landscapes, interact with the warm local community, and witness stunning views of the Shyok River valley.

Option 2: Opt for a tranquil retreat at Panamik, known for its rejuvenating hot springs believed to have therapeutic properties. You can also visit Yarab Tso, a serene and sacred lake tucked away in the mountains, or explore Sumur Monastery, a peaceful Buddhist sanctuary exuding spiritual charm.

As the evening settles in, return to your accommodation in Nubra Valley for an overnight stay.

Begin the day with an early morning departure from Nubra Valley as you embark on a scenic drive to Pangong Lake via the mesmerizing Shyok Route, known for its rugged beauty and breathtaking landscapes. The journey winds through remote valleys and follows the course of the Shyok River, offering stunning views of the vast, untouched terrain.

By afternoon, arrive at Pangong Lake (14,270 ft), a surreal high-altitude lake famous for its ever-changing shades of blue. Spend the rest of the day soaking in the tranquility of the lake, taking a leisurely lakeside walk, and capturing its ethereal beauty through photography. As night falls, witness a spectacular display of stars in the pristine Himalayan sky, making for an unforgettable stargazing experience. Enjoy a peaceful overnight stay at Pangong, either in a cozy camp or a comfortable cottage, surrounded by the serene beauty of Ladakh.

Wake up to the breathtaking sunrise over Pangong Lake, where the golden hues reflect beautifully off its ever-changing blue waters, creating a serene and mesmerizing start to the day. After soaking in the tranquil morning, begin your journey back to Leh, traversing the scenic route via Chang La Pass (17,586 ft), one of the highest motorable passes in the world. En route, stop by the Druk Padma Karpo School, famously known as the ‘3 Idiots School’, where scenes from the Bollywood movie were filmed. If time permits, explore either Shey Palace—once the royal residence of Ladakh’s kings, offering stunning panoramic views—or Thiksey Monastery, a striking Tibetan Buddhist monastery resembling the Potala Palace in Lhasa. Upon arrival in Leh, unwind and enjoy a relaxed evening before settling in for a comfortable overnight stay.

On the final day of your journey, enjoy an early morning transfer to Leh Airport, bidding farewell to the breathtaking landscapes of Ladakh.

Both the guide and driver were highly professional, and the guide's knowledge was impressive. However, I would like to suggest a small improvement: crossing the Changla Pass twice was a bit inconvenient. It would have been more efficient to travel directly from Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake, crossing the Changla Pass only once. Read more

Going to Ladakh was a very special experience and I would recommend this tour hi... Going to Ladakh was a very special experience and I would recommend this tour highly. The landscape was absolutely spectacular and the blend of history, culture and geostrategic importance was fascinating. My tour with Alkof Holidays was very well organised. I requested an extra day be added to my trip and they organised a day of visits to Hemis and Thiksey Monasteries and Shey Palace. My guide Riyaz was fantastic, very kind and provided me with lots of insights about the region. There are too many highlights to list but the top of the list would be Pangong Lake. Read more
