Later, take some time to wander through the local market, where you can shop for authentic Tibetan handicrafts like Prayer Wheels, Pashmina Shawls, and more. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, head out to explore the beautiful Sham Valley. This place offers a touching tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in the Indo-Pak wars, built by the Indian Army. Next, visit the Kali Mata Mandir, followed by the historic Spituk Gompa, a stunning 11th-century Buddhist monastery. Continue to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, built in honor of Guru Nanak Dev's visit in 1517. Experience the fascinating Magnetic Hill, where the road seems to defy gravity, and enjoy the scenic drive to the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers. After an inspiring day, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley, also known as Ldumra or the Valley of Flowers. Located north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges, this high-altitude valley sits at around 10,000 feet. En route, cross Khardung La, one of the world’s highest motorable passes at 18,300 feet, and enjoy spectacular views of snow-capped peaks. Upon arrival, check in at your camp for an overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
After breakfast at the camp, visit the silver sand dunes of Hunder, a unique high-altitude desert set along the Shyok River in Nubra Valley. Enjoy a camel ride on the famous double-humped Bactrian camels, once used along the ancient Silk Route. Continue to Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra Valley, set on a hilltop with sweeping views of the valley. The towering Maitreya Buddha statue here is a major highlight. You may also take a short walk through Diskit village to experience local life. Later, drive back to Leh via Khardung La. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel for an overnight stay.
Early in the morning, carry your packed breakfast and drive to Pangong Tso Lake, a stunning high-altitude lake at 4,350 meters (14,270 feet), known for its striking blue waters set against barren mountains. The lake stretches for about 134 kilometers, with a large portion extending into Tibet (China). En route, visit Shey Palace, once the summer residence of Ladakhi kings, and Thiksey Monastery, perched on a hill overlooking the Indus Valley. Continue across Chang La Pass (5,360 meters), one of the highest motorable roads, before descending via Tangtse to Pangong. Upon arrival, check in at your camp and, if time permits, enjoy a peaceful walk by the lake. Overnight stay near Pangong Lake.
After breakfast at the camp, explore the breathtaking Pangong Lake and nearby attractions. In the afternoon, embark on a scenic drive to Tsomoriri Lake, the largest lake in Ladakh, situated at an altitude of 15,075 feet. En route, pass through Tsagala, Chushul, and Mahe Bridge, while keeping an eye out for Himalayan marmots along the way. Overnight stay at the camp.
After breakfast at your camp, begin your drive back to Leh, with a detour to Tsokar Lake. Your journey will take you through diverse landscapes and notable sites, including the Puga Geo-Thermal Gas Springs, known for their fascinating geothermal activity. As you drive through the Polo-Kongka Pass, you'll encounter the traditional nomadic Rebo tents, offering a glimpse into the life of local herders. Continue to Tsokar Lake, a picturesque wetland area where you can take a break to capture some stunning photographs. If time permits, consider a visit to the small monastery in Thukje village, which provides a tranquil setting and cultural insights.
