Day by Day
Itinerary
On arrival at Guwahati Airport, an Alkof Holidays representative will meet you and take you to your hotel. After check-in, rest and relax. In the evening, enjoy a river cruise on the Brahmaputra River to watch a beautiful sunset. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Guwahati.
After breakfast, drive to Jorhat, known as the Tea Capital of India because of its large tea gardens. On arrival, check in at the hotel and relax. In the evening, take a short walk around Garh Ali, the main market area of Jorhat. Here, you can explore local shops selling traditional North-East Indian clothes and handicrafts and buy souvenirs. After the visit, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, drive to Sivasagar, the former capital of the Ahom dynasty that ruled Assam for nearly 600 years. Visit the Tai Ahom Museum to learn about the history and culture of the Ahom rulers, followed by a visit to the Maidams of Charaideo, the royal burial grounds of the Ahom kings. Continue sightseeing with stops at Sivasagar Tank, a large man-made lake, the famous Shivdol Temple, and the historic Kareng Ghar and Talatal Ghar, known for their unique architecture. You will also visit Gaurisagar Tank with its temples. In the afternoon, drive back to Jorhat and visit nearby tea gardens to experience the peaceful beauty of Assam’s tea plantations. Later, pass by the historic Jorhat Gymkhana Club. Overnight stay at the hotel in Jorhat.
After breakfast, drive from Jorhat to Nimati Ghat and take a ferry across the Brahmaputra River to Majuli Island, the world’s largest river island and a center of Vaishnavite culture. On arrival, visit the traditional Satras founded by saint Srimanta Sankardeva and take a walk through nearby tribal villages to experience local life. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the island before checking in at your eco-lodge or guesthouse. Spend the evening at leisure and enjoy an overnight stay on Majuli Island.
After breakfast, take the ferry from Majuli Island back to Nimati Ghat and then drive towards Kaziranga National Park, enjoying the scenic countryside along the way. Upon arrival at Kaziranga, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for the one-horned rhinoceros, check in at your wildlife resort and relax. The rest of the day is free to unwind and enjoy the natural surroundings of the park. Overnight stay at the resort in Kaziranga.
Experience the thrill of early morning and afternoon jeep safaris within Kaziranga National Park. One safari will take you through the picturesque western range, renowned for its lush greenery and abundant wildlife, offering sightings of rhinos, tigers, elephants, swamp deer, buffalo, and more. The other safari will explore the central zone, characterized by its wetlands, water bodies, and rich vegetation, making it a haven for birdwatchers. Here, you can witness rhinos grazing in expansive grasslands and spot a variety of wildlife, including tigers, wild buffalo, elephants, deer, pythons, and numerous migratory birds. Conclude your exciting day with an overnight stay at the resort in Kaziranga National Park.
Start your day early with a morning safari in Kaziranga National Park, offering excellent chances to see the famous one-horned rhinoceros along with deer, wild buffalo, elephants, and birdlife in the misty grasslands. After the safari, return to the resort for breakfast and some rest. In the afternoon, head out for another jeep safari to explore a different part of the park and enjoy more wildlife sightings in the open landscapes. After an exciting day in the jungle, return to the resort, relax, and enjoy an overnight stay in Kaziranga.
After breakfast at the resort in Kaziranga, check out and drive to Tezpur. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and relax for some time. Later, go for local sightseeing and visit Agnigarh Hill, associated with the legendary love story of Usha and Aniruddha, followed by Chitralekha Udyan, a peaceful park with sculptures and stone carvings. Continue to the ancient Mahabhairab Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and then explore the Da-Parbatia Temple ruins, among the oldest examples of Assamese temple architecture. End the day with a visit to Bamuni Hills, known for their historic stone carvings. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Tezpur.
After breakfast at the hotel in Tezpur, check out and drive to Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and relax for some time. In the afternoon, go for local sightseeing and visit the famous Kamakhya Devi Temple, one of the most important Shakti Peethas in India, located on Nilachal Hill. - Safari access to specific zones is subject to availability. To secure your preferred safari bookings in your desired zones, we recommend booking your tours at least 90 days in advance. To book your safari, we require a clear photo of the traveler's passport, as mandated by the forest department.
- Once safaris are confirmed, the safari fees are non-refundable. Please carry your original valid passport or ID proof to present at the entry gate for safaris.
