Itinerary
On arrival at Guwahati Airport, an Alkof Holidays representative will meet you and take you to your hotel. After check-in, rest and relax. In the evening, enjoy a river cruise on the Brahmaputra River to watch a beautiful sunset. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Guwahati.
After breakfast, drive to Jorhat, known as the Tea Capital of India because of its large tea gardens. On arrival, check in at the hotel and relax. In the evening, take a short walk around Garh Ali, the main market area of Jorhat. Here, you can explore local shops selling traditional North-East Indian clothes and handicrafts and buy souvenirs. After the visit, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, drive to Sivasagar, the former capital of the Ahom dynasty that ruled Assam for nearly 600 years. Visit the Tai Ahom Museum to learn about the history and culture of the Ahom rulers, followed by a visit to the Maidams of Charaideo, the royal burial grounds of the Ahom kings. Continue sightseeing with stops at Sivasagar Tank, a large man-made lake, the famous Shivdol Temple, and the historic Kareng Ghar and Talatal Ghar, known for their unique architecture. You will also visit Gaurisagar Tank with its temples. In the afternoon, drive back to Jorhat and visit nearby tea gardens to experience the peaceful beauty of Assam’s tea plantations. After breakfast, drive from Jorhat to Nimati Ghat and take a ferry across the Brahmaputra River to Majuli Island, the world’s largest river island and a center of Vaishnavite culture. On arrival, visit the traditional Satras founded by saint Srimanta Sankardeva and take a walk through nearby tribal villages to experience local life. After breakfast, take the ferry from Majuli Island back to Nimati Ghat and then drive towards Kaziranga National Park, enjoying the scenic countryside along the way. Upon arrival at Kaziranga, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for the one-horned rhinoceros, check in at your wildlife resort and relax. Cancellation
