Langtang Valley Trek Nepal

Trekking

Tour Destinations

Highlights

The "Langtang Valley trek" stands as a picturesque and accessible journey nestled north of Kathmandu. Its allure lies in a harmonious blend of natural wonders and cultural treasures. Within this region, diverse vegetation flourishes alongside endangered fauna, such as the elusive Himalayan Red Panda, Pika, Muntjac, Musk deer, and the majestic Himalayan black bear. The area bore the brunt of the 2015 earthquake's devastation, but through diligent efforts, it has since reopened its trails to tourists. Today, an increasing number of trekkers are rediscovering the splendor of the Langtang region, drawn by its rejuvenated landscapes and resilient communities.

Itinerary

Upon reaching at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our dedicated Alkof Holidays representative will be there to greet you, provide assistance, and facilitate your transfer to the hotel. Enjoy a refreshing welcome drink at the hotel, followed by a detailed briefing about the upcoming program. Your overnight stay in Kathmandu will be at the hotel.

Embarking on our journey at dawn, we set out from Kathmandu towards Syabru Besi, a picturesque village that serves as the gateway to the Langtang Valley. The scenic route unfolds over eight to nine hours, winding through verdant foothills and offering glimpses of the majestic Ganesh Himal. Along the way, the mighty Trishuli River accompanies us, painting a mesmerizing backdrop against terraced green hills and lush forests. While the journey is largely enjoyable, some stretches of the road may present bumps and ongoing construction. Upon arrival at Syabru Besi, check-in at the hotel for overnight stay.

Embark on your journey as the trail unfolds along the Bhote Koshi River, tracing the course of the Langtang Khola. Ascending steadily, the path leads you through challenging terrains, reaching the quaint village of Bamboo (1,960 m). As you continue, the trek meanders gently to Rimche (2,400 m), passing through Bamboo, nestled along the banks of the Langtang Khola. Consider a delightful lunch break at this scenic spot before concluding the day's adventure at the Lama Hotel. Keep a keen eye out for the possibility of encountering red pandas, monkeys, and even bears along the way. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Embark on the trek as it winds through Gumanechok at Ghoda Tabela, translating to the Horse Stable. Beyond this point, the trail ascends gradually, revealing a picturesque valley adorned with grazing yaks. Langtang, a quaint and historic village, stands as one of the oldest along this trekking route. Unfortunately, it fell victim to an avalanche triggered by the April 2015 earthquake. Despite the challenges, the breath-taking mountain views captivate, growing more majestic as we approach. Retire for the night at the hotel.

Today's journey is a shorter walk, perfectly designed for acclimatization. Amidst the stunning surroundings, there are intriguing attractions to discover, notably the renowned cheese factory. Indulge your taste buds with the freshness of locally produced cheese – a must-try experience. Nestled in the lap of the Langtang Lirung mountain ranges, this beautiful valley beckons exploration. Venture into the valley, ascending several small peaks or hillocks for a more immersive experience. Conclude your day with an overnight stay at the hotel.

Today is dedicated to exploration and adventure. Immerse yourself in the cultural and artisanal wonders by visiting the monastery and cheese factory. For a more exhilarating experience, ascend the moraine to witness the awe-inspiring spectacle of ice-capped mountains and cascading glaciers of Langtang Lirung. Alternatively, conquer the heights of Kyanjo Ri (5,350 m), the pinnacle of this trek, or embark on a hike to the Tserko Ri viewpoint, offering a breathtaking panorama of the Langtang peaks right behind the village. Another option is to venture into the Langshisa valley, with the option to return to Kyanjin Gompa for a cozy overnight stay.

Following a rejuvenating two-day sojourn in the Kyanjin Valley, we descend back to the Lama Hotel, continuing our trek with a renewed spirit.

As we bid farewell to the majestic mountains, our descent leads us back to Sybru Besi, retracing the path from where our trek commenced a week ago. Overnight stay at the hotel in Sybru Besi.

Following a satisfying breakfast, we embark on a 9-hour drive back to Kathmandu from Syabrubesi. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, check-in at the hotel for overnight stay.

Embark on a day filled with exploration after a delightful breakfast and early morning activities. Begin your journey by visiting three captivating destinations: Bouddhanath, Pashupatinath, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Patan Durbar Square. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Bouddhanath Stupa: Immerse yourself in the grandeur of Bouddhanath, one of the world's largest stupas. Pilgrims and tourists alike partake in the ritualistic circumambulation, spinning prayer wheels and expressing their devotion.

Dedicated to Lord Shiva as Pashupati, the Lord of Animals, the temple's intricate architecture and spiritual rituals provide profound insights into Hinduism and funeral practices. Note that only Hindu pilgrims are permitted entry into the Pashupatinath Temple.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square: Explore the UNESCO-listed heritage site of Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a treasure trove of ancient palaces, temples, and courtyards. Admire the architectural marvels of the Malla period, including the iconic 55-Window Palace and Nyatapola Temple. The square stands as a living testament to Nepal's rich cultural history.
