Experience our 8 Day Ladakh Snow Leopard Trekking Tour, a Wildlife and Safari journey thoughtfully designed for international travelers visiting India. Trek through the frozen valleys of Ladakh in search of the elusive snow leopard, one of the rarest wildlife sightings on earth. Based around prime snow leopard habitats like Uley Village and Rumbak Valley, the exact trekking destination is guided by our local wildlife spotters to give you the best possible sighting chances. Along the way, you will encounter Himalayan wildlife like blue sheep, red fox, and golden eagle, all set against the raw, unspoiled beauty of Ladakh in winter. Small group sizes and responsible wildlife practices make this a truly meaningful adventure for nature lovers.

The best time to spot snow leopards in India is from January to March, when the snow drives them down to lower altitudes in search of prey, making sightings far more frequent and accessible in Ladakh and Spiti Valley.
No ethical wildlife tour can guarantee sightings, as these are wild animals in their natural habitat. However, our expert naturalists have years of experience tracking snow leopards and consistently deliver exceptional success rates for our groups.
A moderate level of fitness is recommended as tours involve trekking at high altitudes between 3,500 to 4,500 metres. No technical mountaineering skills are needed, and our guides set a comfortable pace suitable for most travelers.
The primary base is Uley Valley. However, the exact trekking destination may shift to areas like Rumbak Valley based on real-time directions from our local wildlife spotters to maximize sighting opportunities.
To avoid altitude sickness in Ladakh, acclimatize gradually by spending a couple of days in Leh before ascending to higher altitudes. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol and heavy meals, and take it easy for the first 24-48 hours. Consulting a doctor about preventive medication like Diamox can also help.
You stay 3 nights in a handpicked 3-star deluxe hotel in Leh and 4 nights at an eco-lodge in Uley Valley during the expedition.
You may spot blue sheep (bharal), Ladakhi urial, red fox, golden eagle, lammergeier, Himalayan griffon, and ibex across the valleys and ridgelines.

We visited Shey Palace, Khardung La, Nubra Valley, and the best part was camping near Pangong Lake. We did a camel safari at Hunder. The trip was well organized by Alkof Holidays, and I would highly recommend this tour. Special thanks to our driver Aslam, and to Varun, our tour manager. Read more

Both the guide and driver were highly professional, and the guide's knowledge was impressive. However, I would like to suggest a small improvement: crossing the Changla Pass twice was a bit inconvenient. It would have been more efficient to travel directly from Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake, crossing the Changla Pass only once. Read more
