Itinerary
On your arrival at Kolkata Airport, an Alkof Holidays representative will warmly greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After freshening up, head out for a half-day exploration of Kolkata's notable landmarks. Start with the Howrah Bridge, an engineering marvel spanning the Hooghly River. Opened in 1943, this cantilever bridge is a vital transport link and a bustling hub of activity, showcasing the city's vibrant daily life. Next, visit the Victoria Memorial, a stunning white-marble monument dedicated to Queen Victoria. This grand structure, surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, houses a museum with exhibits on Kolkata's colonial history and artifacts from the British era. (Note: The Victoria Memorial is closed on Mondays and national holidays.) Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, set out for a full-day excursion to Gangasagar, a significant pilgrimage site located at the confluence of the River Ganges and the Bay of Bengal. Travel by road to Ferry Ghat/Harwood Point, approximately 90 km from Kolkata. From there, board a ferry to reach Gangasagar Island. Known for its spiritual significance, Gangasagar is revered by Hindus for its sacred Kapil Muni Ashram, where it is believed that the sage Kapil Muni meditated. The ashram and its surroundings hold deep religious importance, attracting devotees who come to perform rituals and offer prayers. After a spiritually enriching visit, return to Kolkata by ferry in the afternoon. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kolkata.
After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing in Kolkata. Begin with Dakshineswar Kali Temple, a famous riverside temple associated with Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Continue to Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission, known for its peaceful atmosphere and unique architecture blending different faiths. Later, visit Kalighat Kali Temple, one of the most revered temples dedicated to Goddess Kali. After sightseeing, transfer to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport for your onward journey.
