On arrival at Cochin International Airport, an Alkof Holidays representative will welcome you and transfer you to the enchanting backwaters of Alleppey, often referred to as the "Venice of the East." Alleppey is famous for its intricate network of canals, serene lagoons, and lush green landscapes. This picturesque town is the heart of Kerala’s backwater tourism, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the region. Upon arrival, you'll check into a private houseboat for a relaxing day cruise. These floating villas offer an intimate way to experience the backwaters, as you drift past stunning scenes of daily life – from Chinese fishing nets dipping into the water to endless stretches of swaying coconut palms. You'll also catch glimpses of rustic homes, ancient temples, and villagers working on coir products, all set against the backdrop of lush paddy fields. The evening is yours to relax and enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the backwaters or explore the local markets of Alleppey. Overnight stay on the houseboat, where you'll be surrounded by the tranquil beauty of Kerala's backwaters.
After breakfast at the houseboat, we'll head to the peaceful town of Kumarakom. Once you arrive, settle into your comfortable resort and relax. In the afternoon, visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, a paradise for bird lovers. Look out for a variety of birds, from colorful kingfishers to elegant herons and egrets. After enjoying the birdwatching, take a stroll along Kumarakom Beach, where you can feel the soft sand under your feet by the vast Vembanad Lake, the largest in Kerala. After breakfast at the resort, leave for Thekkady, a wildlife haven roughly 3 hours away. Upon arrival in Thekkady, check into your comfortable resort and freshen up. In the afternoon, we'll venture to Kumily, a charming town 10 kilometers away. Here, immerse yourself in the fragrant world of spices at a local plantation. Learn the secrets behind cultivating pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, and other exotic treasures. As dusk settles, we'll visit the majestic Mullaperiyar Dam, a marvel of engineering that harnesses the power of the Periyar River. After a hearty breakfast, prepare for an exciting day in Thekkady and Periyar National Park, nestled in the lush Western Ghats. Today morning, we'll transfer you to Cochin International Airport, from where you can board a flight to home or onward journey.
