Our day begins at 7:30 AM as an Alkof Holidays representative picks you up from your hotel for a journey through Ahmedabad’s rich heritage. The first stop is at 8:00 AM with a guided Heritage Walk through the historic old city, beginning at the vibrant Swaminarayan Temple in Kalupur. This 19th-century temple, known for its intricate wooden carvings and vibrant colors, is a significant spiritual site and a beautiful example of Gujarati architecture. As we continue, the walk takes us through the pols – Ahmedabad’s historic residential clusters. These maze-like lanes are filled with ornately carved facades, traditional chabutras (bird-feeding towers), and hidden courtyards, giving travelers a glimpse into the city’s unique architectural style and community-centered life.

At 9:30 AM, we head to the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, famous for its remarkable Tree of Life lattice window, an exquisite example of Indo-Islamic architecture. Built in the 16th century, this mosque is a must-see landmark of Ahmedabad and embodies the delicate artistry of the era.

Next, at 3:00 PM, we visit the Calico Museum of Textiles, located in the lush Shahi Bagh Garden. Renowned for its extensive collection of Indian textiles, the museum showcases the artistry, techniques, and history behind India’s textile heritage. Visitors will see intricate embroideries, ancient fabrics, and traditional crafts that reflect Gujarat’s prominence in the world of textiles.
