Cruising the Lower Ganges of West Bengal is an in-depth cultural, cruise tour in the eastern part of India! Start and end in Kolkata, the 10 days tour will let you explore 7 historic destinations across the River Ganges in West Bengal. This tour includes all transfers, sightseeing, 10 breakfasts and 9 nights accommodation including 7 nights journey in the Ganges Voyager II Cruise Ship.

Day-to-Day ITINERARY

Day 1 : Fly to Kolkata Fly to Kolkata. Day 2 : Kolkata Arrive in Kolkata (Calcutta) and transfer to the Oberoi Grand for 1 night. Day 3 : Kolkata Transfer to the Ganges Voyager II for the 7-night journey. Lunch will be served on board. In the afternoon, visit Mother Teresa’s house and tomb. Mother Teresa started the Missionary of Charity in 1952, and lived and worked here until her death in 1997. Learn about her life story at the permanent exhibition, which includes a visit to her personal room and a visit to her orphanage, Shishu Bhavan, where one of the sisters will take you on a guided tour. (B) Day 4 : Kalna This morning, enjoy a rickshaw ride through the city centre of Kalna en route to the enchanting Rajbari complex, which is home to the highest concentration of temples in the region. Other temples at Rajbari include Lalji, the oldest in the complex (1739), and Krishnachandra (1751). (B) Day 5 : Kolkata Embark on an early morning city tour of Kolkata including visits to the Writer's Building, General Post Office, High Court, St John’s Church and the Victoria Memorial Museum, which houses the largest collection of British colonial historical artefacts in India. After lunch, journey upstream and go on an afternoon excursion in Bandel. Visit the Hooghly Imambara, a Shia pilgrimage site built in 1841 by Haji Mohammad Mahasin. (B) Day 6 : Matiari Go ashore to visit the bazaar in Matiari, known for manufacturing beautiful handcrafted brass items, created using traditional methods that have been passed down for centuries. Continue the journey upstream and sail past the battlefield of Plassey, where Robert Clive of the British East India Company defeated the Mughal Nawabs in 1757. The rulers of Bengal and their French allies established the company rule in India, which spread through much of south Asia for the next 190 years. (B) Day 7 : Khushbagh • Baranagar This morning, visit the charming village of Khushbagh, passing through scenic fields to arrive at the well-preserved mosque complex built by Nawab Ali-WardiKhan, housing his family's private mosque. Later, visit the rural village of Baranagar, home to several temples dating from the 18th century (1714 - 1793) and the Hazarduari Palace. In the evening, return to the ship for dinner and enjoy a local cultural performance on board. (B) Day 8 : Mayapur After a restful morning observing local life along the riverbanks, stop in the village of Mayapur, known as the birthplace of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1486) who is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Krishna. Experience the fascinating culture of Krishna followers and learn about the 700,000 square foot temple that has been recently constructed in the complex. (B) Day 9 : Chandernagore Begin the day in Chandernagore, established as a French colony in 1673. The French obtained permission from Ibrahim Khan, the then Nawab of Bengal, to establish a trading post on the river banks of this city, which became a permanent French settlement in 1688. Explore the French colonial buildings along the promenade, including the former French governor's residence, now converted into a museum that features an exhibition of items that depict life during this period. Later, visit the Sacred Heart Church of Chandernagore before returning to the ship and continuing the journey downstream to Kolkata. (B) Day 10 : Kolkata Following breakfast, disembark the vessel and transfer back to the Oberoi Grand. (B) Day 11 : Departure Transfer to the airport and fly to your next destination.

Many of our travelers join because they are traveling solo. So yes it is absolutely safe to travel solo on this tour. As a solo traveler, you have to pay single supplement charges. Please let us know at time of booking and we’ll arrange the rooming configuration accordingly.
Our tour cost includes personal assistance during arrival and departure, hotel accommodations with breakfast, all transfers, sightseeing and excursions by private air-conditioned car/van/coach depending on a number of persons with as per itinerary, English speaking local guide, all applicable taxes and dedicated manager with 24x7 support. We can also include lunch and dinner, domestic flights, and other services on request at an additional cost.
The check-in and the check-out timings in a majority of the hotels are 1400 hours and the 1200 hours respectively. Early check-in's and late check-out's are subject to availability of the rooms, thus we suggest you to book your room(s) previous night itself if you arriving early then the normal check-in time or if you have a late check-out. Just let us know your arrival and departure timing at the time of booking your tour with us and we will help you in managing your stay for the extra hours.
We provide 3 star comfort hotels in our standard tour packages. However you can always upgrade your accommodations to 4 star hotels or 5 star luxury hotels or charming boutique hotels/heritage palaces or any special hotel of your choice at an additional cost.

PAYMENT TERMS

If you are interested in booking any of our brochure tours, you may simply send us an email giving us your details. We normally need an advance amount once we confirm the arrangements for the tour. The amount depends on the services you may require for the tour. This can be paid through bank transfer, credit/debit card, or cash. We need balance payment before arrival or as per below schedule.


  • 30 days or more before the date of departure: 25% of the total cost
  • 29 - 20 days before the date of departure: 50% of the total cost
  • 19 - 16 days before the date of departure: 100% of the total cost

Important: The booking stands liable to be cancelled if 100% payment is not received 16 days prior to departure date and received amount will be fully forfeited.

CANCELLATION

If you cancel your holiday:

You or any member of your party may cancel their travel arrangements at any time. Written notification or an e-mail to that effect from the person who made the booking must be received at our office. The cancellation charges per person applicable are as per the published cancellation policy below:


  • Between 30 - 45 days before the date of departure: 25% of the total cost
  • Between 17 - 29 days before the date of departure: 50% of the total cost
  • Up-to 16 days before the date of departure: 100% of the total cost
If we change or cancel your holiday:

We do plan the arrangements in advance. It is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your travel arrangements.
